A bit about me
Hi there,
My name is Brendan and I’m the Founder of Maker Freedom. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been putting things together. From making toys and catapults to working with electronics and mechanics, I’ve always enjoyed the liberating process of designing, building, and making whatever creations I could think of.
If you’re reading this right now, chances are you can relate. Perhaps you daydream about all the possible (or even impossible) inventions you could make. Maybe you have a curious nature about how things work. Or you have a garage full of things you’ve built and deconstructed because you’re a DIYer.
For a long time, that was me. But I never had a place I could go to or a way to pursue my passion for making. That was until one year in high school when I joined a maker course and met many like-minded people.
It was an amazing experience. I had never felt so much freedom to make things. In that class, I was allowed to combine my limitless creativity and vision for improvement with logic and technical knowledge.
We made circuits and robots; phone stands and handheld vacuum cleaners; 3D printed and laser-cut buildings and more.
The other students were also super creative and inspiring. The fact that we were all young folks with the ability to make our crazy ideas a reality within months was awesome.
But not everyone has a course or club that enables them to discover or pursue their interest in creating things. And for those who have discovered it, there are not a lot of resources to support the growing demand of makers.
That’s why I decided to create Maker Freedom; to help people discover maker culture as well as inspire people like you who have a burning desire to create. Our mission is to empower people with the freedom to make things by offering a wealth of valuable knowledge, tools, and resources. Welcome to the maker movement.
